Vision 2020’s FOLK MEDICINE FESTIVAL 2015
9:00am to 6:00pm Healing arts practitioners, biodynamic farmers, organic gardeners, artists, craftsmen, singers, musicians, dancers, and storytellers all come together on the banks of the Salt Lick Creek to celebrate the restorative powers or nature. Vendors, demonstrators, entertainers, children's activities, food vendors, the quilt show and educational sessions will happen with the historic downtown area of town. From the Palace Park through downtown, the Log Cabin Village area and down to the Church of Christ building. There will be signs posted pointing to the various areas. There will also be volunteers wearing ivory colored t-shirts within the festival red pump log on the front to help you find your way. You are welcome to spend the entire day with us! The goal of the Red Boiling Springs Folk Medicine Festival is to pass on knowledge, skills, and traditions that ensure the survival of folk activities, from old-time medicine and natural healing arts to arts and crafts that demonstrate the traditional, handmade way of not only creating art but useful household items. We see the Folk Medicine Festival as an opportunity to encourage creative expression and foster a sense of community. One of Red Boiling Springs’ premier “don’t miss” festivals !! See the Vision 2020 website listed below for more details on this great fun-filled festival. http://www.vision2020inc.com/

RBS Heritage Museum Crowd Funding
We are being so bold as to inform you of new fund raising that we (Vision 2020) are doing for the Red Boiling Springs Heritage Museum. It has been suggested to us, numerous times by the "younger folks", that we should use crowd funding to jump start the restoration on the bank building that will eventually become the Heritage Museum. So we have gone with gofundme.com and started a campaign for the brick work on the building. This is an easy way to give. You can donate as little as $5.00 AND you can make it a one time gift OR a monthly gift. Funds are charged to your credit card/debit card. We have been saying all along that "none of us has a lot to give BUT all of us can give a little and thereby we can accomplish great things". Crowd funding is an easy way for those of you who live far away to be a part of this project to preserve the story of Red Boiling Springs. Here is the link: http://www.gofundme.com/9k4szg that will take you to our page. Let me say thank you up front for considering making a monetary donation to this work. Rita Watson, Vision 2020 Inc Red Boiling Springs, TN 37150. Vision 2020 Inc, is a 501c3 volunteer corporation. All funds raised go back into the programs, events and promotions that enhance life in Red Boiling Springs.

American Picker Meets Palace Pickers
Mike Wolfe of the popular History Channel favorite American Pickers was recently in Red Boiling Springs to visit his friend Mike Silvio, owner of Cyclemos. If anyone speculates that residents of long term care facilities may not stay abreast of current events, that was put to rest when Wolfe appeared at The Palace. Silvio’s wife, Jennifer is an RN and Staff Development Coordinator at The Palace and suggested the visit. What started out to be ‘drop in’ kind of visit turned into an extended photo op for residents and staff who recognized one of their favorite TV celebrities. “We’d hesitate to guess how many pictures were made of Mike with residents, patients, and teammates,” said Jayne Hinson, Activities Director. “Many of the folks here were ‘pickers’ long before Mike was born. They love the show and watch it without fail.”
