About the Library
The public library in Red Boiling Springs is a modern facility located at 335
East Main Street next door to the Armour Hotel. The library's collection
contains a good selection of best sellers in both fiction and non-fiction as
well as many other titles both classical and modern. In addition, the library
contains a wide selection of juvenile fiction and non-fiction, movies, both
videotapes and DVD, audio books on cassettes and CDs, and paperback novels.
Three computers are available to cardholders; both computers have DSL Internet
access. Note: all computers are turned off 30 minutes before closing time.
Library Loan Policy
Residents of Macon County, Macon County property owners and people who work within the county are eligible to receive a Red Boiling Springs Branch library card. A card will be issued upon filling out a registration form which contains the applicant's full name, address and phone number. Please bring one piece of ID as proof of residency within the county.
Persons residing outside of Macon County may purchase a library card for a fee of $10.00.
Check Out Procedure and Returns
Books and audio tapes may be checked out for a period of two weeks; they may
be renewed once (either by phone or in person) for another two-week period.
DVDs and videos, a total of 5, may be checked out to adult patrons for a period
of 1 week. These must be returned inside the library during hours of operation.
Overdue movies will be charged $2.00 per day per item.
Books may be returned to the circulation desk or the book drop which is located
to the right of the front entrance.
Movies and audio tapes must be returned to the circulation desk during hours of
operation.
Fines and Fees
A penalty of $0.10 per day per book or audio tape is assessed for materials that have not been returned by the due date.
Overdue video tapes will be charged $2.00 per day per tape.
Copies may be made for a fee of $0.25 per page.
Faxes may be sent from the library at a cost of $2.50 for the first page and $1.00 for each page thereafter.
Electronic Books
Anyone with a Kindle, Nook, etc. and a public library card can download from
the Regional Ebook and Audiobook Download System provided by the state of
Tennessee. Simply use the link below.
On the Sign-In Page, you'll need to click on Macon County on the map.
It's the upper left yellow county in the "Falling Water Region."
Suggestion: Until you get used to their search and download
system, you might want to try this:
Use the "Advanced
Search" link in the dark blue box on the left side of the screen.
Enter a title or an
author or a subject (e.g., Mystery.)
Select the format
(e.g., Kindle).
Finally check the box
"Only show titles with copies available." (Once you are
more familiar with the system, you can leave the box unchecked. You
can then add yourself to wait lists to reserve books.)
